Empowering a Community to Uplift Itself: Masinyusane hires and trains unemployed youth to become literacy coaches for children in their first 5 years of schools. Our literacy coaches bring a kid out of a classroom with 40 other children into our literacy centre for an hour long session, customised to that child's level and need. The project simultaneously tackles children's literacy and youth unemployment, two of South Africa's greatest challenges.

Masinyusane provides FREE housing to 20 of our most talented, yet financially disadvantaged, students. They benefit from proximity to campus, safe/quiet rooms, free food, access to computers, a culture of success and daily mentoring from our Director (who lives with them).
